Where do you want to be ?
Updated: Nov 4, 2018
I recently worked with a high-performance team in Toronto, to help them create Career Plans. They quickly discovered how important it is to take time to plan out future goals.
There are 2 types of goals. One is the short-term goals and the other is long-term goals.
Short-term goals are actually the most critical element in the Career planning process because they require us to determine “next steps” and identify obstacles to achieve them.
Long-term goals are the main goals. The key to establishing long-terms goals is to focus on what we want and when we want it.
Reach out to someone who is in the role that you are aspiring for, ask their advice.
Stay open to opportunities because one thing leads to another.
Invest in learning by taking relevant courses or read a lot (resources are boundless)
The great thing about Career Plans is that they are a living document. We can revise them and create new goals at any time.
We all have our own way of navigating through our professional world but we all need a map and a destination.
